Is it next gen? Well right now it has one game that is next gen, in ZombiU. The rest of the games could easily be done on PS3 Xbox360.
Right now no one is really using the gamepad well, other than Ubi with ZombiU. I think if more uses can be found for the gamepad that actually benefit gameplay, then yes the Wii U will be next gen.
I think Miiverse is next gen, and is something different and unique.
In short, some parts of it are next gen, and some parts aren't. I haven't seen anything that really shows off it's potential.
