SS hater here!
I was disappointed with this game for various reasons, and know at least two people IRL who feel the same way who happen to be around my age (30) - perhaps those of us who played OT when it first came out on N64 have a better understanding of the undefinable magic that was so sorely lacking in SS. It's fourteen years at lest since i played OT, but I still remember the various ocarina songs, characters and level designs. It's seven months since I last played SS and I've forgotten most of it - only remembering what disappointed me about it.
SS = Bland characters, little variation of ,levels, constant backtracking, lack of sense of scale (the Sky area you operate from feels more like a hub for reaching worlds), many battles with minor enemies felt like a random scissor paper stone nightmare. I miss bounding across fields finding quirky little optional extras. Unlike another poster, I could feel nothing for the characters in SS. There were charcters I wanted to see but didn't - where are the Zoras for example?
Also, I accept that WW was a great game, but it's pretty much proven that people prefer the slightly darker look of OT/TP - so why not stick to that?
I've heard criticizm of TP for sticking to closely to the OT formula. Well, for me personally, I hope they stick to the OT formula in the future. The only silver lining to all this bitter complaining is that I have never played Majoras Mask so still have that to look forward to.
Too much planning, and you'll never get anything done.
