The graph shows for how many years a console was being manufactured. There hasn't to be a connection to new software releases. But it for sure is strange in some cases. For example, I doubt that Sega still manufactured Dreamcasts after 2001. EDIT: After looking again at the chart I really don't know if it's manufactured or software support or maybe even both. Where did you get that graph? |
Actually, according to NPD 1 dreamcast was sold about 3 months ago. 1UP made a point of commenting on it. So I wouldn't be surprised if this is very accurate. Also, great last post. You made all the points I wanted to, so I really have no need to make any more except a couple. Both the Wii and DS (if they have at least 6 year life spans) are positioned to EASILY pass the PS2 as long as Nintendo continues to up production on the Wii. Nintendo is a smar business company and the chances that they won't are, let's face it, none. The 80 mill and under estimaters of the Wii's sales I think are going to be in for a shock. The Wii and DS launches completely blow away the PS2 launch.
And, as for PS2 finally making it, it completely deserves it. Other than the DS the PS2 is still my favorite game system of all time.
