All of the above, I actually find the Gothic series to be superior to the Elder Scrolls series, especially Oblivion and Skyrim compared to Gothic 3. The Elder Scrolls have gone downhill (imo) while the Gothic series has only gotten better, stay away from Arcania though, Piranha Bytes no longer develop the series and it took a nose dive. Risen is also terrific, equal to Gothic 3 in all ways save for scope and also made by Piranha Bytes.

Yeah, I also enjoyed Gothic way more - I do love Morrowind, but other than that, I've never been huge fan of Elder Scrolls - for my taste, I find both Might and Magic VI/VII and Wizardry 8 better open world RPGs than most of ES games, to be honest.

Yeah, Might & Magic are great games! I have the GOG version of M&M VI, VII and VIII! Finished VII a while back and I'm starting VIII after new year's! They seem simple on the surface and the interface takes a lot of getting used to but the games themselves are surprisingly deep and the gameplay is super-addictive! There's also an incredible variation in enemies, more so than any other open world RPG I can think of and the game world is truly massive as well as greatly varied (variation is the biggest weakness of the Elder Scrolls series, M&M and Gothic beat the hell out of the Elder Scrolls in this department).
