Easily upgradable but people who would want to pay for this 12gb ps3 could possibly be just casuals. Therefore it is safe to assume that they have no idea of an unofficial alternate. Also those who will play GT5 on this model will be required to install the game. If they want to enjoy the online experience, they need to wait for a massive update. After all this, the HDD would be almost used up. Even if the casuals don't care about online, they still are able to play a limited amount of games on the HDD as the blu-ray is too slow for gaming and Ps3 games are required to be installed. Not to mention the 12gb ps3 dont really have 12gb available as the OS and some other system stuff would occupy some of the HDD at the first place. See what I mean? Aleast in the 4gb 360 model, you are allowed to use up to 32 gb USBs. Up to 128 gb usb storage available assuming that you want to use all the ports. Plus old 360 HDDs can be fitted to the slim model. But to be fair, none of the casuals (or rather most of the casuals) are not aware of this. I'm by no means down playing Ps3 itself, its a great system. BUT for a system that requires an install for every game in its platform and for Sony to come out with such a small HDD model. I dont think a 12gb Ps3 justifiable. |
If the console is pushed toward casuals, then it is the right move. Not every game needs a mandatory install, especially when it's a casual based game. Like all move based titles. There are only a hand full of First Party titles that require an install. Hitman and call of duty don't need an install. I know it heavy based texture and Rpgs that need that mandatory install, but not all. Wonderbook and Just dance are just a few casual games that are install free.
