I guess that depends on Sony's point of view. We also need to take in mind that the PS3 lost so much money at the beginning of the gen that Sony might never recover from it. Even if the PS3 ends up selling 100m+ units if Sony doesn't recover (or even break even) the lost money it might be a failure. This all from a business perspective mind you.
