It's not doing well....it's being outsold by much older consoles and developers aren't developing for it....Other then the die hard Nintendo fans and console collectors out there, I can't see it having a bright future.

So then I guess you thought the launch of PS360 sucked even more? You know.... since Wii U is outselling them both combined??

Why compare the Wii U's launch to what happend 6 years ago when the economy was very different? The Wii U also is directly competing against the 360 and PS3 - the PS3 and 360 where not directly competiting against the PS2. The Wii U is being outsold by it's 6-7 year old rivals, showing that people are more interested in the old then the new right now. As we are approaching the holiday season, that is even more concerning.

You are right that the economy is very much different, as I said in a post before - which you disregarded. The economy is much, much worse now than in 2006-2007 - at least in Europe. So is it really strange that people like the cheaper option? You really do like to spin things as much as possible, don't you? Let's see how the Wii U is doing next x-mas, and how it compares to PS720.

How have I put a spin on things by saying that a new console is being outsold by it's competition? That's what the figures show, and as you have said, releasing a new, expensive console now isn't the brightest of ideas....

Spinning: "It's not doing well" <- It's almost selling as well as Wii, and doing much better than PS360 at launch...

Spinning: "It's being outsold by older systems - not good" <- We've already established that this isn't unique for Wii U and that it's quite normal in the beginning of a gen. Viper1 established that both the PS2 and DS was outsold by older systems at launch, and that turned out to be pretty bad for both of them in the long run... Oh, wait...

That's what I call spinning. But I know that I won't change your mind. You will for ever think that Wii U was a failure at launch, and nothing I can say or do will change that.

No, no & no. You completely fail to understand the Wii U's place in the market. Unlike other consoles at launch, the wii u is DIRECTLY competing against the PS3 and 360. All that can be gathered right now is that the Wii U, a new console, is being outsold BY THE COMPETITION. How the fuck you translate that into "the wii u is doing well" is completely beyond me, more so if you consider the poor performance in Europe.

Not doing well =/= failure. Nice strawman bro.

Oh, you're one of thoooose! Not thinking Wii U is part of the 8th gen =) now it all makes sense!

Wii was competing with PS360 - and did it very well. In fact, it was so good at competing that it won the gen. Wii U is part of the 8th gen of home consoles braw! And as far as I can see it's completely dominating! 100% market share. That's pretty good. But you're right, it could have had 110% or 200% market share!!

If the WIi U was not competiting directly with the 360 and PS3, then it wouldn't have so many ports and be looking for so many ports e.g. GTA 5.
The Wii was not aimed at core gamers like the other two consoles. It's like comparing Ferrari sales to Ford sales - different markets.

But whatever. Dreamcast syndrome has kicked in where people are just warping the situation in order to paint a favourable one. Time will tell just how well it's doing but with fuck all dev support, I can't see it lasting long.

For the most part of Wii U life cycle it wil be competing with 720/ps4. I dont understand why you are insisting that it must compete with current gen consoles. Honestly, Nintendo would not even care if the ps3 or the 360 is outselling it by a bit, they are cheaper consoles with a large library, with more recognition because they have been out  on the market longer. The ps3/xbox 360 will exit the market in a year or 2, so again why would nintendo care?  They would be more concerned with building up a strong software line up and driving a large install base so they can get the advantage over the next installment of console.

Again, we are talking about the sales of a console at launch. Looking at the Wii U's sale number at launch they are doing better than the previous gen except the Wii,during a worse economic environment. So again explain to me how are the wii u sales number bad again?

Bet with ninjablade:

Ninjablade wins if the next 5 multiplat on the wii u are inferior to the 360 version.

I win if one of the 5 mulitplats are on par or superior on the Wii U.
