The Vita is in trouble. This isn't because it doesn't have good games, it's because it doesn't have any good mainstream games. The biggest mainstream games to hit the Vita are Declassified and AC Liberation. AC Liberation met meh reviews and Declassified even worse. Furthermore, these are both titles that consumers are not accustomed to having on a portable device. To fix sales, Sony needs a big handheld game. For Nintendo it's simply a matter of pushing out another Mario, Zelda, or Pokemon. Sony is much more reliant on third party titles like GTA or Monster Hunter (which has already jumped ship) to drive sale. For the Vita to succeed, Sony must:
1. Release a new God of War and Gran Turismo
2. Drop the price (sell at a loss if necessary)
3. Actively work out third party support with third-parties, namely Rockstar, Square Enix and Capcom.
If the Vita can get GTA to drive sales in the West and Monster Hunter to drive sales in the East, sales will sore, as will third-party support.
