Hardware sales seem to be going well. I don't think anyone could realistically expected much more, other than the poor start in Europe. Software is a bit of a concern, with a lot of games falling off the table, but some of that could be that people are waiting until after Christmas to buy more.
The Wii U will be fine for the next year. Beyond that? I have no idea. A lot depends on it being included in multi-platform releases or not. At the very least, it will have Nintendo exclusives, so it's not like it's going to wither up and die. It's going to be a solid console regardless.
