N64 was the first console I bought with my own money.
To me, those magical times were the SNES. After begging for it since April 1992, I tried to save my pocket money for most of the year (hard to do with like $5 per week). I even left the money I earned under the tree to see if it would be enough. Santa gave us the SNES and left the money, and said to spend it on games, so I got Mario Kart the following week. Happy times...
