Thats true, but Microsoft is dead set on taking it where it shouldnt be.

Also where Sony can't afford not to.

Sony started the multimedia trend but they aren't forcing it to turn into a cable box. Microsoft hand is half way in Sonys PS2 marketshare. With American business attached to the industry get ready for more costly additions next gen and less and less games on Microsofts part as the years go by.
