Had something to do with the 3DS. Amazon US claimed the original 3DS was defective and Nintendo of America refused to buy back the inventory. Amazone then dropped all Nintendo hardware. Been that way ever since.
The 'defect' Amazon claimed was the little streaks that can show up on the top screen because of the raised bevel surrounding the bottom screen.
