When someone is living outside of the time frame everyone else lives in. They just become forgotten. When the average life expectancy is forty. Anyone living past a hundred is outliving the living memory of their community. People might know that the person in question is old, but they hardly know how old. Chances are without much in the way of a frame of reference a lot of them didn't even know how old they were.

I read a whole book about those kind of things when I was younger, and the interesting thing is that these stories. Almost always have the same common thread. They are almost always rural farmers, hunters, or fishermen. That follow routines, keep to simple diets, and are typically celibate. So if you want to live a long time. The key seems to be monotony. A boring uninteresting life seems to go on forever.

Anyway I don't want to live to be over a hundred, and I wouldn't mind too terribly if I die before I am sixty. There just isn't much dignity in those late stages of life. Seriously I don't want to wear diapers, or have to go in for big surgeries, live vicariously through others, or watch people I care about die. Stop the train I want to get off first. With a bit more dignity, a lot less pain, and a lot less boredom. If I have to die. I would rather get it over with. I am not saying right now. There are a lot of things I want to do, and to see, but once that is over with I don't want to fucking linger. Like a bad house guest who can't take a hint.

I have told as much to old people I have worked with. I ain't going to let myself go to rot. We have tall buildings for a reason. Yeah I don't believe in prohibitions against suicide.

Hang in there man, in the future we will be swapping out organs like parts to a car via tissue engineering. So maybe you can kill yourself at 100 yrs. instead of before 60. I'd also like to hear your take on things when you hit around 50, especially if you have children.
