I think 150 to 200 max would be okay, anything longer then that would be to much. Like others have said, if you run out of room just create multiple posts.
I haven't really run into many times where I needed to write a wall of text. The option to add a screenshot really prevents the need for it.
The sayng " A picture is worth a thousands words" really rings true in Miiverse.
