Patcher always thinks Nintendo is doomed, pay him no mind.

From my view Wii U has no chance to replicate the success of Wii, but then again, what does? It will still get respectable sales and I believe an even better library than the Wii when it's all said and done. 2013 looks like a strong year for the console, and I'll almost certainly be getting one sometime during 2013. Whereas 2012 esentially only had NSMB, next year already looks to kick its ass with Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, Rayman, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Wii Fit (not really my cup of tea but certainly a big seller), Lego City Stories, Bayonetta 2, and others. Beyond that, you have the inevitable Smash Brothers, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, and probably Metroid games which will make a splash. After that, Nintendo simply has to fill in the gaps and keep momentum going with some lesser games, and hopefuly a new franchise or two, and they'll be just fine. I see anywhere between SNES and N64 level of success, but that shouldn't matter to you as long as you enjoy the games! And it looks to me like Wii U will have plenty of good ones. SNES is still my favorite console to date and it didn't exactly sell like gangbusters, only barely beating the Genesis.

In the end, I think the SNES outsold the Genesis by around 10 million units, I wouldn´t call that "barely beating", but yeah, the Genesis did give the SNES a run for its money.
