The 3ds is better than the vita in no way shape or form. Deciding which one who be the better choice for you boils down to preference and budget. If you like Nintendo games get a 3DS, if you couldn't care less about Nintendo games get a Vita, if you couldn't care less about Nintendo games and can't afford a Vita get a PSP.
