It technically is now, you would need 3.55 firmware or below to actually be able to run homebrew apps on the PS3. 

 

Of course nothing is unhackable so it could happen again but all attempts for the past almost 2 years have been unsuccessful unless you had the original PS3s or a PS3 with 3.55 firmware and below.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There is no "unhackable" system available today. Period.

This includes game consoles, computers, supercomputers, etc.

You need to read my post again, I never said there was a "unhackable system", I just said it was unhackable atm, for an example when the iPhone 5 was in development, I dont think it was hacked, do you? Every system is hackable, you dont have to tell me the obvious.

Edit: For clarification: None of the newer PS3s are hackable atm

Newer PS3s are hackable. They don't undergo a hardware change later in life to make them hackable. Any previous PS3s released before an exploit is found is still susceptible to said exploit. Therefore, they are hackable.
