Did Sony express any interest in fixing the PS2's hacking problem when the PS3 was out?

Huh. They fixed the hacking problem with the PS3, yes. You seem to have misunderstood the question. Did Nintendo want to do the same with WIi U?

Are you jumping the gun here? Look at the damn video. It shows the homebrew channel running on the WiiU in Wii mode. It would need further evidence to show it's breached the limits imposed when the WiiU CPU is in "Wii mode", otherwise, it's just like hacking any other Wii console.

Yes, I'm jumping the gun because I expect Wii U games to become playable any day now. What I'm asking is if anyone thinks it's not going to happen relatively soon.

WiiU games are playable now, otherwise it would be a useless console.

As for whether the WiiU will be hacked anytime soon, it would determine how much isolation  Nintendo keeps the Wii mode from the original mode. The fact that the console resets to boot into such a mode is a relatively good sign that it's pretty isolated, and most likely CPU level secure (ie. Would require a reset to take the CPU out of Wii-mode to access the WiiU full hardware, at which point, you lose control of the CPU). To say this is anywhere close to hacking the WiiU is like saying the PS2 breaches clearly show that PS3 is just as unsecure.
