People become passionate about things they spend a lot of time and energy doing and they will defend their passions to the end. It is also hard to see other people's passions, or lack therof when one is so mesmerized by one's own interests and opinions.
Its really quite simply down to emotions surrounding gaming. I agree that its tiresome at times but there are still good threads to read and good discussions to be had at vgchartz!
