People love gfx but gfx cost money. More money cost in making good gfx cut companies profit. Everyone loves profit specially companies and vgcharters. Cut in profit leads to less strong console and less strong gfx. People with high end video cards not so happy (prob around 20% of pc gamers at max). Companies make more money and make more games with jumping dudes and pew pew pew guns. More games make Michael and friends so happy.

Why do you think then game makers such as UBISoft and Epic games are saying longer console cyclces are bad for them??

Running out of ram and people are bored of their yearly franchises. They don't want to make new stuff with high gfx because new ip's cost too much money and cut into the CEO's compensation package.

Games are already costing more than $20 - $100 million dollars on HD consoles. Just to break even they need to sell 5 times more copies than they did in the last generation. Over 120 companies have shut down this generation trying to make the big graphical games we all wanted. Things would go even worse if the PS4/XBOX3 come with the horsepower of muscle cars. Graphics are important but they just cost too much.

Here is the number of people it takes to make games.
