The last new movie I watched was Brave. It was ok, the kids liked it. The water and cloth effects really stood out, amazing job on those. The ground needs work though, it looked a bit flat with grass sticking out.
The animation and story were ok. The movie although still entertaining doesn't really stand up against the greats.

I'm slowly going through my library of animated movies. Our 3 year old likes the Disney channel now so might as well put up a movie every other day. So far we've watched Castle in the sky, Ponyo, Spirited away, Howl's moving castle, Up, Princess and the frog, Beauty and the beast, Lion king, Little mermaid, Happy feet, A bug's life, Emperor's new groove, Lilo and stitch, Atlantis the lost empire and Road to El Dorado.
Ponyo, The little mermaid and Up are his favorites so far.

I'm also finally watching the Star wars prequels. I bought the blu-ray set a long time ago and only re-watched the old ones back then. Anyway yes they look really clean on blu-ray with a pristine high bit rate encoding, LFE action is outstanding, the movies themselves are still very average. The cgi effects look pretty dated already. They look and play like cartoons, very expensive and very loud cartoons.
The 70's movie have stood the test of time better :/
