So earlier in the thread, I was bitchin' about having a Wii U with an epic overscan - which I thought was caused by the unit being defective. I called Nintendo and they said that I had to send it in to get repaired on launch day. Instead of doing that, I just go back and swap a unit at Gamestop. Turns out the overscan wasn't a result of a defective Wii U, Nintendo just didn't account for those people without a scan adjustment option on their TVs.

So I'm currently living with the overscan until Nintendo decides to fix it via patch. So now, the problem becomes:

1). I dumped $50 into the first Wii U's eShop which can't be transferred to the eShop on the 2nd Wii U because my accounts are locked to the Wii U you create it on. So I'm out $50 bucks.

2). I linked my Club Nintendo account to the 1st Wii U as well. And when I tried to link it to the 2nd Wii U, it said "hell no".

So I was screwed. And I sent Nintendo an email asking them to sort this out. So I get a call from a Nintendo Consumer Representative and he really helped me out. I'm happy now.

1). He said he can't refund the $50 by crediting the eShop on my current Wii U, so he can send my any 1st party game so long as I pay the difference ($9.99 + $5.00 shipping + .90 tax = 15.89). So my choices were Singstar or Ninja Gaiden: Razor's Edge since I already have NSMBU and Nintendo Land. I was tempted to ask if I could wait until the Wonderful 101 came out but I didn't want to push it. So I just chose Ninja Gaiden although I have no interest in that game. Who knows, maybe I'll like it. But I doubt it because I don't like action games anymore. But even still, it's a nice gesture and I'm thankful.

2). He's going to have an admin de-link my club Nintendo account from the old Wii and re-link it to my new Wii.

So, yeah, Nintendo has never let me down with their customer service. Everytime I've had to call them they've taken care of me. Good stuff.

excellent story, high five!
