I think the motion control was literally one of the biggest attractions to otherwise a graphically inferior console. That's exactly what turned it into such a big fad and why people were so hyped to get one so short after its release. Of course the flagship titles would have sold regardless to those who were interested, but it could have had potentially lower sales. In terms of graphics and power it's certainly a last gen console, more of a competitor to ps2 rather than the ps360?
IMO of course.
