I think they are smart to focus their efforts on new distinguishing services rather than me-too services.
I wanted person based accounts instead of system based accounts and got that. I am thrilled about all the awesome community stuff which is collectively MiiVerse... and I never liked trophies/achievements ruining game design and padding game length and making games less fun.
See now when 2 or even 5 different accounts play the same game at the same time like Nintendo Land, they can all earn their Stamps and Leaderboard ranks and not worry about boohoo my trophies are not unlocking.
