Eh, I was hoping somebody knew some games coming out that I didn't know about.  I mean I wasn't aware of Persona 4 Golden either.  I usually just ignore JRPG games and I don't stay updated with the Vita all that much either because every article about the thing is it's doomed, and that just gets annoying.

A description of which genres you are mostly interested in would help. I will go along with what you have stated you like, Pokemon esque games.

  • Persona 4 Golden is right up your ally, I am assuming that is why your attention has been peaked by it. The game boasts 100s of "Personas" which are collected, traded, trained similar to pokemon. The game treats them more like Summons really, but it still applies.
  • There are bundles that save you at least 80bucks on the asking price. They are all coming with a 4GB memory card, and a game. The Assassin's Creed III: Liberations bundle would probably be best, as its a pretty good game.
  • PS+ basically brings the game library to you. I don't know if you have a PS3 and play stuff like Uncharted and Wipeout, but both of those are free with PS+ for the Vita entries, as well as Jet Set Radio, Gravity Rush(Phenomenal game), and Mutant Blob. So for $300 you get 6Games, a Wifi Vita, and a 4GB Memory Card(note, you wont be able to fit more than one of the bigger games at a time with that Card size).
  • Super Stardust Delta is $15, great arcade shooter and a personal guilty pleasure of mine.
  • If you are into 3rdPerson Shooters, but don't require heavy MP modes for handheld, Unit 13 is your game. This game perfectly meshes portability with the genre, with its varied bite sized missions. It actually holds quite a lot of content as well so you can put in a good 40hrs+ just completing the missions, let alone mastering them. They offer a scoring system that keeps you attempting the missions over and over to get everything "Perfect". The game also randomly generates Elite missions that will challeng your abilities. No heavy story mode to bog you down from the game play, you are a terrorist elimination unit and you get shit done, end.
  • If you are into Brain Training style games, Smart As is pretty great.
  • LBP Vita is the Best version of the series. I always preferred Platformers on handheld, they just suit it better. This game unlocks a plethora of choices as it even can have ski ball mini games. There is also the acclaimed Sound Shapes ,also Dokuro and Escape Plan for puzzle platformers.
  • For Fighters there is Street Fighter X Tekken with all the bonus content and the free Vita version of PSASBR with PS3 version purchase.Don't forget Mortal Kombat.
  • Zero Escape:Virtue's Last Stand is a great mind fuck puzzle/adventure game.
  • Vita functionality is constantly expanding. We recently got an upgrade to the Browser that allows full HD webpage display,Cloud Storage, and are now able to remote access your PC to transfer data. Some of the system functions include Cross Game Chat, Trophies, Custom Soundtracks, Near Functionalilty, Better battery life than the 3DS, Netflix, Email App, Skype ,Music Player,Video Player,Front and Rear Camera,Google Maps, Youtube , Facebook, Music Unlimited, PS1/PSP support (Check compatibility Lists), custome wallpaper themes. Sony is still upgrading as they go along and we will hopefully see many more usefull apps like an ebook Reader(hint hint nudge nudge Sony).

On the Horizon?..........

  • Kickbeat comes out next month as a fanciful Musical action Rythm Game.
  • TearAway: quirky platformer that will assuredly take advantage of what the Vita can do in a meaningful way.
  • Soul Sacrifice: for all the Monster Hunter/Collectathon Junkies as well as Demon's Souls fans. This game will be great, period!
  • Killzone Mercenaries: is looking sharp and quite beautiful at that. This will probably be the defacto shooter for the system.
  • Warrior's Lair: Not sure if this interests you but it will be a Dungeon Craller RPG with cross play functionality.
  • Gaucamelee: out early next year, DD action platformer. Looks good
  • Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal
  • Sly 4
  • Rainbow Moon: Strategy RPG that will be ported from PS3.
  • Refer to this for any others I might have missed... http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=148741&page=1
I will post some highlight videos to set the tone of what you would be getting into
