The 3DS installed base is already big enough to provide good sales for several titles being released around the same time. Besides, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon doesn't strike me as a series that has any notable impact on momentum, so it doesn't really matter when it releases.

Oh, no. The momentum part is for Animal Crossing.

Pokémon was annouced too late and released too soon, imo.

Just think about it, how many "big" games gets released 4 months after being announced. Dragon Quest 7 now is another one, but it was for that stupid 77777 (the seventh game on the 7 million milestone) reason.
