The idea that this is a 3D game scares me - at that rate, I prefer it would stay 2D. :P I can't get an image in my head of how a good 3D yoshi game would work! >.<

It could work, just think Galaxy 2 and the cool stuff you can do with Yoshi.

It's probably gonna be 2d though, but still!
