FYI: Amazon is not actually selling the Wii U, those are other people/companies if you look at who has it available, and MANY times what is available on Amazon may also be available from the same company on ebay. |
I'm not actually certain what Amazon is or is not selling at the moment, I do know that Amazon does sell videogame consoles and was selling the PS3 and Wii at launch ...
Beyond that, my lists were from a couple of tracking firms which specialize in products that are "sold out". From my understanding they make money by being an affiliate of a lot of large online retailers because when someone clicks on their links and buys a product they get a small commission. These sites are generally set up by hand, finding the products on the site and entering into their tracking program, and then updated as the server checks these sites several times a minute to see if the availability has changed.
In my opinion it is likely that Amazon does sell the Wii U but since it is sold out they're only listing it as being available through re-sellers who're tied into Amazon. If Amazon had it in stock it would display:
In Stock.
Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available.
Like it does with other consoles.
With that said, it is entirely possible that Amazon won't sell the Wii U until Nintendo can meet demand and these two seperate tracking sites are just monitoring the site for no real reason.
