A game that came out for PC 5 years ago (Crysis 1) looks better than anything that can be seen on any console. Even if you have a 5 year old PC (yes it was expensive when it came, and its pretty bad by todays standard, but it would still blow both 360 and PS3 out of the water). If you buy a PC today, for less than $300 (minus the screen) it has better graphics than PS3 and 360 easily.
So please stop saying, game X looks better than game Y, since both have crappy graphics when compared to PC, we don't play consoles to have the best graphics, we play, cause of the exclusives and the bigger player base online (also no cheaters). |

$29.99 left and no screen, no audio, no graphics card and no CPU (and likely no CPU cooler). And given how shitty these cheap parts are (especially the PSU) it won't last you very long.
As for the Crysis comment that is a very very bad comparison. Show me a PC from 2005 that would be able to run this with higher settings than the 360 (so that it's a notable improvement or how you'd call it "blow out of the water"). I'm not saying it's impossible but the costs for that would be insane, much much more expensive than a launch 360

Take that out of the equation, im sorry, but when i count for price for a PC i never include the OS. Why? Cause i already have my OS, not gonna buy it again. And Windows 7 for me was a lot cheaper than $100... Audio cards are built into the mainboard. So that leave you with $120 to buy a CPU and a GPU, which is easy. Cause all that PC gotta do is outpreform a PS3 or 360. Personally i would spend something like $500 and get a PC that will last a couple of years.
Also yes a PC from 2005 can easily outpreform a 360, if your PC was top notch when you bought it. People don't seem to know that games like COD have native 1040x600 resolution only on consoles (even lower on PS3). Also Halo 4 was the first in the series that had 720p as native resolution. Even a PC from 2001 is capable of higher resolution.

I don't care about your situation. I'm stating facts that are true for a neutral person who never had a PC before.
You NEED to buy Windows at some point. Yes you can get the newest versions cheaper when you upgraded from the last one, but still. You NEED to buy it and not just an update. Even for people who owned a PC or laptop with pre-installed OEM Windows. Those cannot be transferred to another personal computer.
Yes some may also get it cheaper or even for free if they are studying something in the IT section. But this is far from being a fair comparison.

As for the last paragraph, you can't be serious when you only talk about resolution and it makes me think that you have no clue about this topic.
360 can do 1080p, NATIVE. It has 1080p retail games (such as FIFA Street 3 for example). Can a PC from 2001 run Crysis at 720p and the same settings (texture resolution, shadows, lighting, draw distance, A.I., Anti-aliasing etc.) as the console versions ? Definitely not, so why do you bring that up ? Resolution isn't everything.

No you dont NEED to buy Windows, some people doesn't even like Windows, do you know how popular Linux is? So popular in fact that steam will be brought to that and with that every game that runs via steam. Linux is 100% free btw.
Yes some 360 games can be run in native 1080p but they are more rare than all the 540p native games. Unless you count XBLA games, which quite a few has 1080p actually, but those games don't have good graphics normally. I know that resolution, isn't everything, but considering we are running a lot of games upscaled to 720p on consoles with 30fps, when we can run the same game with twice the draw distance, much better textures, 16x AA 1920x1080 resolution 60 fps on a bellow $1000 PC (and that includes everything even windows). The consoles are getting old, the games are showing how limited the consoles are today. Yet fanboys seem to think that games like Killzone 3 has the best graphics ever.
