Wii U is actually relatively easy and familiar to code for, it is underperforming due to a slow CPU and weak memory bandwidth. These things can't really be addressed by 'optimising'. And certainly not by 'GPGPU'. If PS4 and 360 are as powerful as they can be for $300-400*, Wii U will be far behind them.
