While I agree with the sentiment that it isn't doing very well, a PoS CoD game won't save it on name alone. ACIII:L was alright though. Sad though, a really good CoD game where everyone would be playing 4v4 matches all the time would have been pretty good for the system as everyone would at least consider the system if they saw others playing it. Instead, another Nihilistic turd it seems.
Same thing could have been said last year re: 3DS. Wasn't doing so hot at all. Had little no so software, was over priced and now look at it. It's selling well in most territories and crazy in Japan.
I personally love my vita. I think a price reduction (or memory card price reduction or both) and the 'killer app' will do it some good. Sadly for both it and the 3DS though, I believe the iDevices have really cut into the child market. Parents are more willing to give their kids an iDevice even though it is more expensive because they can buy free to $1 games to keep them entertained. The kids probably don't care too much about the $40 games to make the price difference worth it IMO.
