So 40 was Professor Layton and Pandora's Box. A great game in its own right, and a marked improvement over the original. However, it was bested by later games in the series and had a ridiculous plot twist even by Layton standards.
39 is the first 3DS installment on the list, and also the first of many new titles from last year's list. It has, or had, another installment in the series released depending on where you live.
