The thing is evolving almost daily. Load speeds are noticeably slower now than they were initially. I'm actually somewhat confident that going from the console in an off state to actually playing a game is maybe a bit faster than the other HD consoles. The competition just hides their loading better. This is just a theory, though. I'll try it sometime today.
My start screen (Mii Verse) is actually full of people talking about Call of Duty, Black Ops 2, Mighty Switch Force, Netflix, etc. It's really addictive. Imagine a VGChartz forum mixed with Twitter and the ability to like stuff (Yeah!). It's probably my favorite feature.
The Wii U browser has that dancing Mii on the top screen because you don't want people turning on the TV and seeing that you're watching porn. Of course, you can open the curtain and watch your web content on the TV. You can jump to the web browser mid-game, too.
Youtube app just came out this morning. Works well enough though my subscriptions say "No videos available". This will change, soon. It's lightning fast. Will probably jump over my HDTV's default viewer and my PS3/360 as my Youtube viewer of choice. It's already my favorite Netflix player.
It's a nice little overview but there's so much little stuff to discover in the Wii U that I'm still figuring stuff out.
