We get the great FPS games, but with kb&m controls, and most PC gamers have no desire to play FPS games with dual analog. So this conflict of genres also tends to push PC gamers away from the HD consoles. The reason I (and I'm sure many other PC gamers) are attracted to the Wii is that it's the only console that really offers an experience that we can't get anywhere else. With the PS3 and 360 a lot of PC gamers feel they would just be buying a shooterbox with worse controls, but the Wii actually offers software that simply cannot be reproduced on the PC. I don't think this perception is completely accurate, as a few things like JRPGs you certainly won't find on the PCs, but those games never sold to PC gamers before anyway. What is selling to the PC gamers is the idea of something completely NEW in console gaming, and it's something a lot of PC gamers like myself have been waiting for for years. |
