Okay, that's good to know.

But I think what the OP is asking is this: "I only have a Gamepad and one Wiimote, how can I play two player mode without the Gamepad user being restricted to touchscreen help?"

I was only responding to your specific question. To answer the OP's, there doesn't appear to be a way to use one or more gamepads in multiplayer play for "regular" control. You'll need wii remotes for every player.
