I get what you mean. People should have reasonable expectations for a handheld version of a franchise, though I believe that future installments will refine the formula to the point where it will be hard not to be impressed. I don't quite see Golden Abyss as a watered-down port (Assassin's Creed, I'm not so convinced) per se, but as a good attempt at a handheld Uncharted game. The only thing seperating it from sheer greatness is the presentational quality, which from what I gather from reviews is not up to series's extremely high standards. A second pass has a shot of being a game that realizes the system's potential even further. Bend has said something along the lines of them being able to make a possible sequel far better. I say give tham a shot, and we may have a bona fide killer app. Same for the purported Gravity Rush sequel.
In the meantime, I was hoping for more games already proven as solid handheld experiences. God of War was excellent on PSP, especially the second attempt at one. LittleBigPlanet was a perfect fit for Vita, and was decent on PSP. But I do commend Sony for taking some risks regardless, and I do hope to pick a Vita up sometime over the course of the next year.

Ok, so we at least agree on something :P lol
I do believe as time goes on, the games will become more refined, but for a new handheld with brand new features, and series we have never seen done on handheld......they are pretty damn good. I just wish I could believe these reviewers are even giving these games the benefit of the doubt tho.

I guess it depends on how you want to interpret the metascores. There are some games on both 3DS and Vita that I think deserve at least a few more points, but at least reviewers get it right sometimes. In the end, I know what I want as an informed consumer and review scores don't have a lot of control over my buying habits.

unfortunately most consumers are not informed, rather they conform with others opinions even when their original one differed. I only read reviews to find out about the features and gimicks and then decide for myself. Many take it for gospel. I think many got Gravity Rush all wrong, that game was brilliant. I do on the other hand see they captured Persona 4 Golden almost perfectly. It will end up being the highest rated Vita game at 96 from 33 reviews. Makes me proud, because it is a glorious game, was then, even more so now.

P4 Golden looks like the perfect update, and it's hard to hate such a drastically improved masterpiece. It helps that P4 was rather overlooked in the first place, so for many it may be the first time they play the game.
Heck, SMT in general is great, and very platform-neutral. I think it pays for me to have both handhelds, what with SMTIV on the way.
