It doesn't mean anything in the long term, it's a given that most home console launches are an automatic sell-out these days, especially since eBay scalpers buy up a good chunk of the first shipment along with hardcore Nintendo faithful.

And this week is the Black Friday shopping rush, so whatever stock manages to make it out that is sure to be gone.

You'll probably see a better idea of what the Wii U's future is post-holiday.

I think you are right, I spent the better part of this evening returning the 4 extra Wii U's I had after I saw the ebay bidding on the system last night and this afternoon.  I feel that its currently sold out because people wanted to cash in (me included!) bought the system but most will find it hard to flip like the ps3 and wii back in 2006.  Im content with the system but alot has changed in 6 years.
