You're right.  Because no console has ever had a 5 GB firmware update.   It was only 882 MB.

As for day 1 bricks.   Every console launch in history has had day 1 bricks (or just broken consoles in the case of those prior to firmware updating)

He's complaining about 882MB?

On a relatively slow (modern) internet connection that should take less than 30 minutes assuming the servers have bandwidth; and I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo increased bandwidth/number of servers to make that closer to 15 minutes on most people's systems.
