Already have a 1 TB HDD ;)

if you go full digital and you by anywhere near as many games as i do i'd bet 1Tb doesn't last you to the end of the gen. i've filled my 500 Gb on my ps3 and i still buy all of my games physical when i can.
OT - wishlist!! now that nintendo did it i can finally look forward to sony copying that!

1 TB is more than enough for at least 1-2 years imho. Even if games would use the whole 25GB a gamedisc could store, you would be able to store 20 games. But no game uses the whole disc space right now so I think you can store at least 40-50 games before running out of space. Add the 25gb in the console for savegames and some small eShop games and it should really last a while. I don't see how one would need immediate access to more than 50 games at once, you could always re-download older games if you deleted them from the disc to make space.

i'm not saying he can't get a decent amount of games on 1 TB. i'm just saying it probably won't last the full generation ... all 5-7 years worth. delete/redownload is always an option but honestly ... it sucks to download a 5 Gb file. takes a while even with fast internet.
all i'm saying is if he fully intends to go full digital he should consider the extra couple of buck to upgrade from 1 to 2 Tb. 2 Tb is a small amount of cash now for how much hassle will be saved later, imo. regardless of what i buy next gen i'll be going as large as possible day 1 just so i don't have to fuck around with the mid-gen upgrade. going from 80Gb to 500Gb mid gen ps3 sucked. it takes a lot of effort to back up and restore those 80 Gb.

I guess it comes down to preference. I think 1TB is more than enough for ~90% of the people and I rather upgrade later when the costs of disc space are lower and maybe even better technology is available.
