Wii U only supports USB 2.0 so a USB 3.0 is not needed. Also, USB 2.0 only has a 60 MB/s theoretical max so I suggest a 5400 rpm drive. You can get a 7200 but it will be noisier, more power hungry without any actual performance benefit.
