Impressions so far.

The console is beautiful for its color but I am not really digging the glossy finish.  Posted twice my wii u was scuffed upon opening but ill let it slide.

-The inital walkthrough to setup your Wii Game pad and TV functionality are pretty straight forward  the screen is bright and everything is easy to read.  It makes a great TV remote, i have yet to setup my FIOS box with it (not sure if you can yet).

The Update and install took an hour and fifteen minutes early this morning.

Setting up your mii is easier than ever with taking picture opiton, but my friends and I were dissapointed that there was no type of expansion on the Mii in terms of graphics or options.

-The Wii plaza when you start the game is a welcome change from the Channels (which are still available) but the nintendo prewritten pop up's can get annoying fast.  I tried to move around but could not, the mii moves on its own.

Channels availabe to me so far is hulu, netflix, amazon instant, wii u chat, the game icon is the first in the top left, settings

-Lots, LOTS of social intergration. I can easily see where it can be a turnoff for some individuals but Nintendo gives you the option to opt in or out.

Nintendo ID setup is straight forward, no profane names, valid email, birthday and state you live in.  It seems you have a local Mii name and your overall nintendo ID.

Miiverse is broken down very nicely, everything is group according to friends lists, peoples sudo game twitter feeds, game communities.  The communities for the games, for what I can see, can be an easy place for people to troll or overhype, Nintendo is already putting the smackdown on multiple comments.  Some people out there can really draw!  The game with the most comments so far is NintendoLand, followed by NSMBU then Zombie U.

-The Wii U e shop looks nice, full function game available for download.  Some titles are missing such as COD BO2 but they do have a coming soon section where you see games like Tekken Tag.  I am currently buying Sonic All Starts which is only 39.99 at the eShop.  There is a warning at the bottom that you need to have an external harddrive to download games to.

The eshop gives you the option to sync your club nintendo account (I dont have one)

Have not tried transferring Wii data to the Wii U yet, probably this afternoon.

Have not tried to drain my batter for the gamepad yet, I always have it charged (except when the charge light is gone) , have not setup my Pro controller yet nor my Wii Motes.  Have not tried Wii mode yet.

NSMB U had some type of streetpass function for the game that you can opt in or out of.  Thought that was interesting

more as i dig in.
