Lets be honest with ourselves here, what he states, while sounding kind of harsh, is totally true. Mario is on itteration what.....24? not including the blatent spin offs. Well when I heard this I could not help but think of Mario and the bajilion almost identical entries and then say to myself "WHAT?!".

Are these games still fun?Yes, but doesn't change the fact the formula barely ever changes outside of predictable additions.

If we count all Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Land games, then NSMB2 is iteration #9 overall and the fourth on handhelds. Pokémon has hit generation 5 with Black/White, so if you want to count Yellow and others separately (although you shouldn't with the exception of Black/White 2), it would amount to ten games.

NSMB2's Metascore is below 80, so the game got treated just as harsh, maybe even harsher, than LBP Vita.

What he stated is true, provided we ignore reality. But should we?

I count 17 Marios, not including the spin-offs.
