I totaly agree with you. Nintendo should stop rehashing their franchises and try seriously some new IPs. I'm not talking about the Mii crap or more kid stuffs. Why can't they make a great shooter or hack and slash game? I feel like Nintendo is sticking into their comfort zone way to much. That comfort zone did wonders for them this gen, but I feel it will get repetitive and tiresome next gen. NSMBWii sold 25million on the Wii, so their answer for next gen is launch with NSMBU, release a NSMB2 on 3ds barely 4months before that, launch Paper Mario a week before NSMBU and all this 1 year after they launched SM3DL and MK7 a couple of weeks apart. I get that Mario brought $$$$$$ on the Wii and 3DS but this is rediculous. Slow down with Mario, Zelda and Kirby and give us Metroid and new IPs.
Kid Icarus was a great start, but it had this ''Nintendo feeling'' to it. That feeling is great cause it's usualy associated with quality but I wish we could see more games w/o that Nintendo feeling. We need more games like Xenoblade and Metroid Prime that doesnt have that ''nintendo fun cute quality game'' and instead have more ''core serious quality game''. I'm a core gamer, and I play games and I don't care if they have blood or if they are ''kiddie''. Mario Galaxy2 and SS are 2 of my favorite games of all time but I wish more games from Nintendo gave me the feeling of it being a serious core experience like Xenoblade. Games that does'nt require ppl to have a heart of a child to enjoy them.
Seriously, when me and my friend saw that Nintendo Direct right before e3 with the action figure and the guy playing Zombi U. My friend seemed curious about that obscure zombi game. I told him it was fake and that it was just to show a example of what you can do on the the console. He asked me why I thought that. I answered because their is no way Nintendo is making a Zombie game and that their is no way they are using a 3rd party game on their pre-e3 Nintendo Direct to unveil the console's features. Turns out I was wrong about them not using a 3rd party game to unveil hardware features, but I was right to be convinced they would never do such a game, and that is sad imo. It's sad that a company is stucked so much into a kind of games that we can tell what games that company could or could never do. It's sad that they are limiting themselves that way. A example of that is Square Enix back in the days it seemed that all RPGs in the industry came from them, it also felt like RPGs was all they could do. But today they are making Hitman and Tomb Raider, they left their niche and now unlike 10years ago the idea of them making a hack and slash or a zombie game is not out of the question unlike nintendo.
Conclusion of this wall of text: Nintendo should stop limiting themselves, they should leave their niche and start taking risks. That way they could surprise everyone by making wonders on kind of games that are totaly unexpected from them.
