Can someone explain why I can't play Virtual Console games on the Wii U Gamepad?

Yep, while eventually all this mess will probably sort itself out.  They should perhaps put a few more people to work on the VC to get all this ironed out.  While the VC was pretty much forgotten during the last years of the Wii it still has a ton potential and work to be done on it.  If they invested 200-300k to hire a few more professionals to work on the VC then they would probably see 10-100 fold money in revenue from purchases.
