Lets look at the sales of previous versions of a few exclusive launch Wii U games ...
New Super Mario U (Total series sales 57.72 million copies)
- New Super Mario Bros. 28.64 Million copies
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii 25.96 Million copies
- New Super Mario Bros. 2 3.12 Million copies (note: Still selling amazingly well)
Wii fit U (Total series sales 43.56 million copies)
- Wii Fit 22.73 Million
- Wii Fit Plus 20.83 Million
Lego City (Total series sales 79.69 million units, 17.32 million Wii alone)
And Nintendoland *could* be argued to be the spiritual successor to games like Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wii Party which sold a combined 146.2 million units on the Wii
None of these titles get nearly the respect they deserve, consider that the 'almighty' Halo series has only sold 50.79 million copies and each of these series is far newer than Halo (and with the exception of the Lego series) has had far fewer games released to make up these sales. The Wii U launch line-up lacks an exclusive "Mature" system selling game but it already has several system sellers.
