Yeah sometimes it ensures success, but thats not the point. The name has Wii in it, its not synonym for expensiveness. Many casuals are probably expecting a cheaper pricetag since they bought the og Wii a lot cheaper. This is Nintendo's most expensive console.

It is Nintendo most expensive console because it is their latest console.  WTF are you talking about?    Ever heard of inflation?  There is virtually nothing in it.

PS2 launch price was €499, it went on to sell the most consoles ever. And don't bring up NA launch price because it will only validate what I'm saying. $249 launch price for PS2 made it succesful while its $599 successor struggled, in Europe PS3 did amazing despite its pricetag, that is because the PS2 launch price was also very high. If Nintendo struggles with WiiU sales and encounters a 3DS situation, that will only prove the userbase was expecting a cheaper console.
