| Soundwave said: The Nintendo World Store in New York does some cool stuff, but NOA as a whole is mediocre at marketing. Sucks for the 97% of us who don't live in New York state. |
It generates word of mouth and gets mass press coverage and also ends up on YouTube for personal bloggers.
Mall events and other such things also target population centers. It works better than TV advertising as clearly evident if you look at how well Nintendo managed to push Brain Age while Smart As is selling worse than worst 3DS game.
I mean VGChartz isn't even covering the sales of Smart As and it is probably the best Brain Training type game made to date. It just so happens to be on the Playstation Vita. Heck it even has John Cleese as the voice of the game... and still not a blip of interest with any of the normal gaming press or outlets while it comes and goes. Very few even bothered reviewing it.
So yes, Nintendo by comparison is excellent at marketing in terms of their effectiveness.
