Can someone explain why I can't play Virtual Console games on the Wii U Gamepad?

Yes because having VC support straight out of the gate to the gamepad is what everone is buying the Wii U for.

Perhaps they made a decision to focus on actual WiiU games working on the gamepad so when people try it they don't go this thing is a dud.

I have no doubt they will include VC on gamepad later as peopel will demand it.

wow, gone are the days when you bought a console and it worked for life. No need for software updates or anything, and certainly no RROD issues.

If I was to chose one, I would say Nintendo is being lazy in not including the VC feature for the GP. Because I don't think getting that done is rocket science.

I don't disagree with you on the underlined statement.I to wish consoles come as is, but the world has moved on patching things and updates where we rely on online services to be up to patch our systems and games.

It will be interesting times when 20years from now when these services have been disabled and you try to play games like skyrim on a PS3 and you don't have access to those patches.

 

Now about your lazy part, I doubt it because if you seeen how streamlined and optmised their console is, you wouldn't be calling them lazy. If they were trully lazy, their consoel would lbe the size of a 360/PS3 slim and be done with it.

I just think knowing that they cna update systems tghese days, they wanted to meet their target launch date to get a year head start on the competition.
