I was about to mention blue shells (and that damn clouds!) because they feel like game breakers: Winning depends entirely on luck at times - one blue shell in late lap 3 and you're out. Getting a cloud with lots of drivers around you = awesome. Getting one with nobody insight = fail. Most of the other items actually need some skill so they're not unfair in any way but blue shells and clouds just cross the line for me at times. There's nothing like being 1st for 2 1/2 laps and then boom! Blue shell! Next race the guy in 1st place will just drive through the whole thing without ever getting beaten by an item.
