So. I've never played a Dragon Quest game before (I know, so sad for an RPG fan...)... But as an RPG, how does this compare to the likes of Chrono Trigger or FF6? (My favorite RPGs of the 90s)

This looks much better than FF3, at least a better improvement. Many could argue that the 3D models they made looked worse than 2D sprites.

Really? I thought this looked fairly charming:
 

Or is this one of those things that was universally panned by those who played the original NES but I wasn't paying enough attention to notice?
